Samsung Zeal QWERTY Cell Phone

The Samsung Zeal has an interesting design. The front features a small display screen that displays the time and date. Below the display are touch sensitive controls for media control, rewind, play/pause and forward. On top of the display is the 2 megapixel camera. Along the left is the 3.5 mm headphone jack, the Samsung proprietary data and power port, the volume rocker and the voice dial button. Opposite you have the microSD slot, a hold button to prevent accidental usage of the touchscreen controls on the front of the phone and the power button.

The Samsung Zeal can open in two directions due to the dual hinge design of the phone. The phone looks like a clam shell phone, opens like one and functions like one. However, you can also flip it sideways, opening the phone to the side, allowing you to flip the phone in landscape mode to focus more on texting. LG Vortex

Like Sprint’s Optimus S, the Verizon Vortex tweaks the Optimus One’s original design but retains the overall feel. It features the same responsive 3.2” 320x480 display as the rest of the line. It is a good display, plenty bright and generally readable, especially for an entry level handset. It has both an ambient light and proximity sensors hidden near the top. The left side simply features a microSD slot while the right houses the volume rocker. The power button and 3.5mm headphone jack sit along the top of the phone, while the charging and data port is at the bottom. The battery door is generally coated in soft touch plastic with the 3.2 megapixel camera and speaker perched near the top.

The LG Vortex has no manual keyboard, but a virtual keyboard is included with the software in this smartphone. The size of the screen  is just under an iPhone at 3.2 inches. It was given 320 by 480 pixels of resolution which amounts to an HVGA format. 

Wi-Fi is included for the LG Vortex for fast downloads or web surfing. It also sports a rare feature that allows the smartphone to share  a Wi-Fi connection while connected to 3G. This is called a “3G Mobile Hotspot”. The straight Wi-fi features only go up to the “G” mode, common, for more inexpensive smartphones. The other common wireless features, like GPRS, EDGE and bluetooth are also included with the LG Vortex. For wired connections, there is a 3.5 millimeter audio jack and a MicroUSB connector for digital devices. A stereo FM radio is included, but not WiMaX or LTE.
